It’s time for English Square again!

今回のイングリッシュ・スクエアでは、クラフト体験やクッキング、自然散策などさまざまな体験をしながら英語を学びます。講師は、スタッフとして働いている、アメリカ出身のポスター・シャリーアです。

昨年度、参加者は皆様、新しい技術に挑戦し、素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。今年度もこの楽しみを続けたいと思います！参加ご希望の方は、申込書をダウンロードしてください。Eメール、ファックス、または北上市国際交流ルームにご持参ください。

4月6日（土）、4月13日（土）は、きたかみ展勝地さくらまつりでおもてなしキッズ、通訳サポーターの活動を行うため、終日休館となります。
お間違いのないようよろしくお願いいたします。

北上市国際交流協会は、先週の火曜日から地域づくり課主催の「マッチングフェア」に参加しています。面白くて、素敵なポスターとディスプレイがいっぱいあったし、多くの良いつながりを作ることができました。ポスターの掲示は 3月19日までですが、北上市国際交流協会のポスターをご覧ください！

Keiko talks about the “Matching Fair,” a poster exhibition being displayed in the building on the 3rd floor by a number of different participants. Posters are displayed so that you can learn about various organizations– one of which is us, the Kitakami Assembly Hall!

We also hear about this next year’s plans and events.

Today is the 13th anniversary of the tragic Great East Japan Earthqake. Keiko talks about emergency preparedness in Kitakami and how important it is on this 3/11 special broadcast.

Disaster Preparedness Workshop PDF

Do you know everything there is to know about disaster preparedness in your area? How about cooking without fire, finding an evacuation center, or even where to use a bathroom?

THIS SATURDAY from 10 AM until finish (sometime around 12, perhaps) come learn what you need to know to stay safe, and help your family and neighbors as well.

Workshop day for foreign residents on disaster preparedness, evacuation procedures, and disaster volunteering.

Date and Time: Saturday, February 24, 2024, 10:00 a.m. to noon

場所：北上消防署（北上市鬼柳町2丁目3番6号）
Place: Kitakami Fire Station (2-3-6 Oniyanagicho, Kitakami City)

2階のホールで全員で学習する
We’ll learn together in a hall on the second floor.

1. 避難情報について/About Evacuation Information
2. ハザードマップの見方ー近くの避難所を確認しようー
How to read a hazard map & Check nearby evacuation centers

10:30–11:55
2グループに分かれてワークショップを体験する
Participants will be divided into two groups to experience the following:

3. スマートフォンアプリ（NHK-World-Japanの活用について)
Smartphone Application (Utilization of NHK-World-Japan)
4. 防災クッキング
Emergency Cooking & Food Prep
5. 簡易トイレ設置、使用方法の体験
Installation of portable toilets and hands-on experience their use
6. 土のう作りボランティア体験
Volunteer experience of making sandbags

11:55–12:00
2グループ合流後振り返り、参加者意見交換
Reflection after meeting up with 2 groups, exchange of participants’ opinions
